Our Lego Group is for children who are having difficulty with fine motor skills, problem solving, planning, sequencing, social skills, spatial awareness and team work and communication. The Lego group is targeted towards children from 10-13 years. Skills such as sharing and turn takings are focused on throughout the program.
Movement Matters is a group specifically designed for children who have difficulties with coordination of their body. The group is beneficial for any child who has difficulty with coordination in any aspect of their motor skills and works on fine motor, gross motor, movement imitation, and fatigue.
The Friends with Phonics group is a Speech Pathology group to assist with children's overall awareness of the sounds that each letter of the alphabet makes. The group assists with rhyming, counting syllables, and the essential skills for reading, writing, and spelling. The group is aimed at children between the ages of 5-14 who are experiencing difficulties with reading, writing and spelling.
The Prep For Prep group aims to teach children the main concepts they are expected to master in Prep and build foundations to help start school with confidence. The group covers story retell/sequencing skills, pencil coordination, letters, numbers, colours, and plenty more. The group is designed for children who are approaching Prep and would benefit from some extra guidance.
Way to Write is designed for children who are already able to recognise and form the letters of the alphabet, however are having some difficulty with appropriate use of lines, pressure, spacing, legibility and fine motor skills. The program will focus on developing these skills, as well as one's awareness of their body in space, and how this influences their ability to engage in this activity.
Ready, Set, Write is a program designed and run by an Occupational Therapist. The program aims to teach children the necessary skills for handwriting. The program is suitable for children preparing for Kindy and Prep or children struggling with writing in the first grade (4-6 years). Sessions will aim to develop skills such as pencil grasp, pencil control, hand-eye coordination, form constancy, fluency and overall fine motor skills.
